Concussion Management

Expert assessment and rehabilitation for concussions and post-concussion syndrome.

Overview

Concussion is a common condition caused by a blow, bump, or jolt to the head, or from a hit to the neck or body that transmits force to the brain. It typically presents with headache, dizziness, confusion, or balance issues. While most cases resolve within 2 weeks in adults or 4 weeks in children, some individuals experience persistent symptoms. Cervical spine involvement is common and often overlooked — Dr. Entezami addresses both the neurological and musculoskeletal components using evidence-informed care pathways aligned with Canadian Chiropractic Guidelines.

Common Causes

  • Head impact in sports (hockey, football, soccer)
  • Motor vehicle accidents
  • Falls
  • Workplace trauma
  • Repeated sub-concussive impacts

  • Neck pain and stiffness

Our Approach

Dr. Entezami follows the Canadian Chiropractic Guideline Initiative (CCGI) concussion care pathway. Assessment covers both the neurological and musculoskeletal components — including cervical spine evaluation, vestibular function, and symptom inventory using validated tools. Treatment includes cervical chiropractic care, acupuncture for headache and dizziness management, vestibular rehabilitation, and a structured graded return-to-activity protocol. Co-management with neurologists or sports medicine physicians is coordinated when clinically indicated. Patient and family education is central to recovery.
