Headaches & Migraines
Chronic or recurring head pain often rooted in the cervical spine, muscle tension, or neurological factors.
Overview
Headaches are one of the most common complaints seen in chiropractic care. Many headaches — especially tension-type and cervicogenic headaches — originate from dysfunctions in the neck, upper back, or jaw. Even some migraines have musculoskeletal components that can be addressed conservatively.
Common Causes
- Cervical spine dysfunction
- Muscle tension in the neck and shoulders
- Poor posture (tech neck)
- TMJ disorders
- Stress and anxiety
- Hormonal changes
- Referred pain from trigger points
Symptoms
- Pain at the back of the head or temples
- Pressure or tightening sensation
- Pain worsened by neck movement
- Sensitivity to light or sound
- Neck stiffness accompanying headache
- Nausea in migraine cases
